Democrat to join race for Torrington Mayor


TORRINGTON -- A 23-year-old has announced his intentions to seek the Democratic nomination for Mayor.

Collin Good, on Monday, said he plans to announce his candidacy for the office being vacated by Mayor Ryan J. Bingham, who is not seeking a fourth term.

Bingham, 30, was elected at age 22. Bingham has endorsed City Councilwoman Elinor Carbone, a Republican who is seeking her party's nomination, to succeed him.

Glenn McLeod, chairman of the Democratic Town Committee, said Good is not an endorsed candidate.

"He is a very ambitions young man," McLeod said.

McLeod said Democrats will nominate a candidate at a meeting of the town committee Thursday evening.?

Good is a 2008 graduate of Torrington High School, a graduate of Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Florida, and lists his current employment as a director of Grassroots Campaigns, Inc. in Boston, on his Facebook page.
