Weekend TV: A parade of finales

Weekend TV: A parade of finales

Touch/Vegas | Fox/CBS, Friday, 8 ET/PT

Two shows with big stars finish their runs tonight: Kiefer Sutherland's Touch, which has already been canceled by Fox, and Dennis Quaid's Vegas, which has yet to be renewed by CBS. Sutherland gave his considerable all to Touch, but the show was never coherent enough to be interesting. Vegas was coherent but inauthentic - it got the look of its '60s period right, but not the feel - and Quaid sometimes came across as detached, a tone that seldom leads to TV success. Even so, here's hoping neither actor gives up on TV. The medium needs all the true stars it can get.

Survivor | CBS, Sunday, 8 ET/PT

The granddaddy of the reality craze once again takes over CBS on Sunday for the grand finale of its 26th season. It's not the hit it once was (most hits eventually aren't), but it still has more fans than most such shows, and it still seems to be keeping them happy.

Once Upon a Time/Revenge | ABC, 8/9 ET/PT

Two ABC series reach their season finale, starting with Time, which seems to be working on an unusual antidote to cancellation: Cram in every single Disney character possible. If you haven't spotted mermaids, lions or flying elephants yet, don't worry - give the show long enough, and you will. That leads into the two-hour finale of Revenge, a show that has spent its second year convincing viewers they were foolish to watch the first one.Let's hope the new showrunner has a better plan.
